Welcome to the Blount County Genealogical and Historical Society, where we preserve the stories of our past and celebrate the
legacy of Blount County, Tennessee.
Blount County Genealogical & Historical Society Mission Statement
Established in 1985, The Blount County Genealogical & Historical Society is a nonprofit organization supported by Pro Bono volunteers. In collaboration with the Blount County Public Library, the society collects, organizes, and makes available local, state, and pertinent federal genealogical and historical materials. These materials are accompanied by searchable indices for research.
The society preserves, digitizes, and stores viable materials following library standards and protocols. It assists members and the general public with genealogy and history queries in accordance with established society procedures.
The Blount County Genealogical & Historical Society also publishes the semi-annual Blount Journal. Additionally, it informs members and the public of its activities, including classes, seminars, tours, picnics, quarterly meetings, and special events.
